Charles Casey, P.E.
Principal Radar Engineer
Raytheon Systems Company
Degree: Electrical Engineering
Project
As systems project lead and as interoperability team leader, Casey has been involved with the development of the dual band radar system to be used on the Navy's next-generation destroyer class ships to be deployed in 2010.
In his role at Raytheon, Casey oversees the entire systems development lifecycle of the P31 program, which creates an advanced communications link for the dual band radar system. The development lifecycle program's activities constitute a nearly $2 million budget.
As Interoperability team lead, Casey manages external interfaces, radar design and simulation analysis to support radar mission threats.
Perspective
"Licensure is important to me because it illustrates a vast knowledge base for future engineering challenges at hand. My PE license has provided me opportunities to expand my role in other areas of engineering at my job. In fact, some programs require PE licensure for certain projects or tasks. My PE license also demonstrates competency for various engineering standards."
